A look back at 2009, new orders, more employees…

Summing up, we can say that 2009 was a good year for MOS-TANGRAM. We did not see the downturn caused by the current economic crisis that occurred to many other companies. In contrast to many projects - many of which are still in the completion stages - we implemented MOS-CHOICE as a leading system..

Limango, (a shopping syndicate offering brand articles at low prices), processes and returns within 24-hours orders consisting of up to 7,000 packages received daily mainly via its web shop. Fressnapf (animal food and accessories) now sells its products via the internet and not from retail outlets any longer. The rollout took place in Germany in October and other countries will follow. With its prize-winning webshop and positive turnover Lascana (ladies' underwear) is making a name for itself. Comma-Fashion (fashion) started operations in autumn. Comma is part of the larger S’Oliver Group. In the first few months of 2010 we will also be reproducing online sales of S’Oliver itself with MOS-CHOICE. As one of the leading fashion companies in Europe, S’Oliver generates annual sales of approximately one thousand million euros. Lidl ("A new offer every week!") launched operations with attractive offers as a mail order retailer of MOS-CHOICE in November 2008. The procedures of this new sales channel for Lidl were refined and optimised in 2009 with Germany as the first market, thereby breaking the ground for a further rollout throughout the whole of Europe. Mirapodo is the name of an ambitious show-shop which is currently in the set-up stage. Here, too, we will be playing a leading role in implementation. For Vet-Concept (Good Food for Animals) we have replaced the old computing system and connected the latest materials handling technology in a newly-built 4,000 square metre warehouse to MOS-CHOICE.

But long-established MOS-CHOICE users such as Baldur-Garten, Rudolf Spiegel Versand, Lofty, Prögel, Kickz, Deerberg and Dr. Oetker Schweiz have also invested in expanding their IT infrastructure in order to open up new markets abroad or to serve their customers more efficiently using improved web and call-centre presences.

This year MOS-TANGRAM has invested a lot of money in expanding web services. Over the long term this will enable us to avoid programme redundancies. Address verification, creditworthiness, pricing etc. usually have to be carried out several times these days - once in the web shop and then again in the mail order system. With our efficient web services, only one programme is required, which saves money and maintenance and simplifies processes.

In large-volume business, analysis is half the business. For this reason we have established a data warehouse and business intelligence universes which can be accessed with the latest analytic tools.

Currently we are preparing a major release change from MOS-CHOICE to DOT.NET technology so that the tried and tested processes and programmes will be more intuitive for users in future. Our e-Learning platform with audio-assisted process simulations and practise games will help users to get used to using the software more quickly.

The increase in sales and profits, which has been continuing for years, continued in 2009. Our optimism for 2010 is unbroken.

Besides Switzerland and the Slovak Republic, an additional development centre will be established at our location in Bamberg (Germany and additional employees will be required in all locations. This will allow us to cater for the needs of our clients and the requirements of users even better and more quickly.

In spite of all our major customers we will not be losing sight of our smaller customers and have therefore been offering an "off-the-shelf" leasing solution. You are welcome to find out more about this at www.mos-midi.com

Seikel chooses software from MOS-TANGRAM

After thoughtful consideration, the Managing Directors of Seikel chose MOS-CHOICE as their new software solution. The requirements were to project the Seikel-peculiarities such as the problematical repairs, the spare parts management and the administration of the vehicle documents. MOS-Tangram sales booming

Swiss company MOS-TANGRAM AG has reported a sales jump of 46.1% this year, up to 6 million CHF. This has been Ulrich Kuratli’s best year since the company was founded in 1995. Revenues were up by the same degree. Today, 23 employees work at company headquarters in Boswil, and 7 in the Slovakian branch office. They no longer program everything alone, however, but instead adjust the basic programming undertaken by a partner firm in India. Der Versandhausberater Nr. 10

Ramco Systems and MOS-TANGRAM join forces to create new mail order solution

MOS-TANGRAM, an international supplier of software solutions for the mail order business, has chosen Ramco Systems, the leading developer of model- and component-based business software, as its partner for developing its new MOS-LiNK ERP system. MOS-TANGRAM intends to expand its leading market position in Europe even further with this successful mail order system based on a jointly developed, forward-looking software generation.

MOS-TANGRAM AG (formerly Mail Order Systems GmbH), based in Boswil, Switzerland, develops and sells software solutions for commercial and logistical workflows in the mail order, retail and wholesale sectors. MOS covers in particular the areas of marketing, sales, training, hotline, system adjustments and project management.

The transition from classic mail order requirements to multi-channel sales calls for the corresponding adaptation of a mail order company’s IT system. After a thorough search and evaluation of potential cooperation partners to develop a new software application, MOS found what it was looking for in Ramco Systems and its VirtualWorks™ platform, which represents a development achievement involving not less than 5,000 man-years. The basic technology behind VirtualWorks™ includes a component structure allowing for extensive process automation, fully web-based working (with offline access to certain functions possible), a high degree of integrative and adaptive capability, as well as low demands placed on the communications infrastructure. With its high quality standards, attractive pricing and not least its unique methodology in implementing projects, Ramco Systems was able during the selection phase to prevail over a number of other European providers.

At the top of the list of demands for the new mail order system were easy adaptability to individual customer needs, central control of all processes and business units in the mail order house, the ability to expand the system at any time by integrating additional functions, and a significant reduction in development costs as well as a short development time. The prerequisite for meeting these demands is a 100% web-based delivery platform that allows for a time- and cost-effective modeling of business processes. Ramco’s Internet technology makes it possible for all workflows of the interconnected internal and external business units to work together smoothly, while an overview of the whole ensemble can easily be maintained.

In the opinion of Ulrich Kuratli, founder of MOS-TANGRAM, the joint development of the new base model MOS-LiNK with Ramco Systems has great strategic significance: "By developing a completely new product, MOS-LiNK, we are continuing to equip our system to handle the extended multi-channel mail order sales of the future. In Ramco we have found a partner that is a world leader in component-based ERP II solutions. The resulting advantages in terms of flexibility, performance, increased competitiveness and reduction in development time and costs will all be passed on to our customers."

With MOS-LiNK, MOS-TANGRAM is now in a position to offer its customers an extremely adaptable and cost-effective software solution for the German and European markets that is designed to handle all the future potential inherent in the mail order business. The first to take advantage of the benefits of the new ERP II solution from MOS-TANGRAM and Ramco Systems will be a mail order company selling office supplies, where the debut installation will take place in March 2006, for 60 users.

MOS-TANGRAM cooperates with French software maker Lineasoft

MOS-TANGRAM AG from Boswil in Switzerland has signed a cooperation agreement with French software developer Lineasoft. Both companies specialize in software solutions for the mail order sector. Lineasoft will initially have an exclusive license to sell the new MOS-TANGRAM software MOS-LiNK in France and Spain. The long-term goal is to develop a European-wide software solution for the mail order business. By adding this new cooperation partner, MOS-TANGRAM has further expanded its leading position in Europe.

Lineasoft is the market leader in software for the mail order sector in France. It has an installed base of 30 in France and on the Iberian peninsula. Sixteen staff members are employed at the company’s headquarters in Labege. MOS-TANGRAM has been developing and selling software exclusively for the mail order sector since 1990. A staff of 40 at the company’s Swiss headquarters as well as in programming offices in Slovakia and India has by now developed solutions for some 100 mail order companies all over Europe as well as in the USA.

According to Ulrich Kuratli, founder and managing director of MOS-TANGRAM, this collaboration has great strategic significance: "Through this cooperation between two leading developers in France and the German-speaking region, we are consolidating the extensive knowledge and experience gained in the course of many installations throughout Europe.” He went on to say that this will form a very solid basis for jointly developed programs.

As already was the case with the latest product developed by MOS-TANGRAM, the complete software package MOS-LiNK, Kuratli will continue to rely on a global division of labor in future as well: "We conceive and configure our programs by working together with our customers in Europe. Production then takes place in India.” Together with the principle of combining standard modules with individually programmed customizations, this has allowed the company to reduce costs for the software by up to a third compared with other concepts. The fact that this is not done at the expense of quality is proven by the CMMI-Level 5 certification according to which MOS-LiNK was programmed. A few weeks ago, consultant KPMG attested to MOS-TANGRAM’s achievement of this highest worldwide level for the programming of process workflows.

hybris wins MOS-TANGRAM as OEM sales partner

hybris is continually working to expand its partnerships and now Swiss mail order systems specialist MOS-TANGRAM has decided to enter into an OEM sales partnership with the eBusiness expert. MOS-TANGRAM is one of the leading providers of ERP systems for the mail order sector. Its clientele includes companies such as the Baur-Versand mail order house, Baldur-Garten garden supplies and Kickz athletic shoes. As part of the OEM partnership agreement, the hybris Commerce Suite will become the standard shop module in the ERP solution MOS-LINK, allowing the user a quick start in online business. MOS-TANGRAM offers this integrated system both as ASP solution (Application Service Providing) as well as in the traditional form as software. In addition to hybris eCommerce Suite, MOS-TANGRAM is also authorized to sell hybris products in the fields of Product Information Management, eProcurement and Catalog Management.

The eShop in the ASP version is designed for eBusiness beginners: companies can lease the online shop integrated into MOS-LINK (which is based on the hybris solution) from MOS-TANGRAM instead of having to invest at the outset in their own hardware and software. The Standard eShop and the Enterprise Portal, both of which are likewise based on hybris software, are offered for sale with a standard interface to MOS-LINK. The difference between the two offers lies in their range of functions: The Enterprise Portal is geared toward large companies and covers all of the requirements of a highly transaction-oriented, international deployment. These include features such as extensive online marketing functions, personalization of the online offering as well as the possibility of scaling the system both vertically and horizontally. This means that the Enterprise Portal, with the help of the hybris module, grows with the customer both in terms of functionality and performance, through clustering and caching. The function range of the Standard eShop is between that of the ASP Shop and Enterprise Portal options. The Standard eShop can also be expanded by docking on additional hybris modules.

"MOS-TANGRAM brings over ten years of experience in the field of mail order systems to the partnership. Its in-depth understanding of day-to-day mail order practice makes the company an ideal partner for hybris in its effort to offer customers even more target-oriented assistance with their electronic sales activities," says hybris chairman Ariel Lüdi.

"The mail order sector is familiar with our solutions as an innovative approach to creating synergy effects at an affordable price. With hybris we can up the ante further and offer our customers an even faster return on investment," says Ulrich Kuratli, managing director of sales at MOS-TANGRAM.

MOS-Tangram presents new mail order suite

Ulrich Kuratli has been working on developing a modular mail order software solution for several years. Now he’s ready to launch MOS-LiNK, with the promise of reducing IT costs by up to 30%. He sees the main advantage as being the option of adapting the program to business volume. "We can adjust the system so that either 100 or 100,000 deliveries a day present no problem.” By the same token, the software can be networked for anywhere from five to 1,000 or more workstations. What’s more, MOS-LiNK is web-based so that decentralized workplaces and foreign branch offices can work with the system with no need for their own installations.

Kuratli is proud that his product has received certification from KPMG in accordance with the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) guidelines – even attaining the highest grade: "Level 5.” And this despite the fact that Kuratli has long relied on programming in the new competitive markets. MOS-LiNK was programmed in Slovakia and India, keeping investment and maintenance costs for mail order companies low. Kuratli’s software is on view at the Deutscher Versandhandels Kongress (German Mail Order Congress), at the MOS booth in the ground-floor foyer of Hall 1. Der Versandhausberater Nr. 40

Baldur goes with MOS

Shipping live plants, the specialty of mail order company Baldur, places unique demands on a mail order system software since packaging and shipping instructions vary from season to season. Certain data must also be included with the products themselves, such as product ripeness. MOS made the necessary programming changes in the standard software and now Baldur has switched to MOS software.
